To install a theme to a WordPress site you will need access to one of two things; the website’s root file via FTP, or access to the website’s WordPress dashboard.

Most self hosted WordPress websites will follow the same method of theme installation. Uploading a theme can be done from the WordPress admin panel and through ftp software like FileZilla.
